When you’re in the middle of a one-day or two-day fundraising campaign, every moment is precious. There are lists to organize and donors to call.
It’s important to prioritize your time and to focus on the tasks that will impact your bottom line the most. If you spend your time on “low-value” tasks, you’ll leave opportunity (and money) on the table.
There are three actions you can take that will raise you more money. Guaranteed. These are “high-value” tasks.
In this blog, we’ll address the first one: Acting on Donor Rescue.
Donor Rescue is a feature that captures information from visitors to your campaign page that begin – but don’t finish – the donation process.
The overwhelming majority of the time, visitors only fail to complete his/her donation because of a distraction. That means that a friendly reminder will spur them to finish what they started.
High performing campaigns can recapture upward of $10,000 just by following up with their abandoned donors.
Here are the steps you can take to make that happen:
1. Go to your dashboard and find all the abandoned donations.
2. Send an email, use WhatsApp, or call all the donors that are on your list saying that you noticed that they didn’t complete their donation, but their support is extremely important to you. You should include a link so they can easily go back to complete their donation. (We have templates you can customize.)
These donors are low-hanging fruit. They showed intention to donate. They simply got distracted. A gentle nudge will result in thousands of dollars. That’s what makes acting on Donor Rescue such a high-value task.
It’s time to get to work.
